Start early to reach home before the stipulated sterilisation time and avoid speeding ahead of the curfew, the Ajman Police have warned motorists.

The police launched an awareness campaign to educate motorists to organise their time in a way that they don’t have to rush home before the movement restrictions are implemented.

The campaign comes following a spurt in speed violations committed by motorists to reach their homes before police alerts to announce the curfew time. These violations have resulted in a number of crashes in various areas of the emirate.

A top official at Ajman Traffic Police said that as part of the police efforts to ensure traffic safety during implementation of Covid-19 measures, the Ajman Police have deployed patrols on key roads across the emirate to reduce accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow during the time before the start of the curfew.

Many motorists received fines for speeding to return home before the curfew. “Speeding and not paying attention to the road are dangerous violations which can cause fatal and serious accidents,” the official pointed out.

Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Nuaimi, deputy director-general of police operations at the Ajman Police, said that the Ajman Police are committed to maintaining road safety by reducing the number of serious traffic accidents. “We have put a comprehensive road safety plan in place and deployed security and traffic patrols to support the sterilisation works being carried out by the authorities concerned to combat the spread of Covid-19.”
