Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman ‘optimistic’ IPL can take place this year

There is a chance that Indian Premier League could still happen this year, according to former India players VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble, who are still hopeful that the 13th edition of the IPL could take place, even if the matched have to happen in empty ground.

The IPL, which was earlier planned to start on March 29, is in stuck due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Yes our hopes have not died and we are optimistic that there’s still a chance if we can cram in the match schedule,” Anil Kumble, the ICC Cricket Committee Chairman said while giving an interview on Star Sports Cricket Connected show.

“There’s still a possibility, we are all optimistic. If we are going to have a stadium without audience, then we would probably have just three or four venues,” he added.
