A detailed set of guidelines has been rolled out for the nurseries, and parents are also reminded to keep the health of their children in check.

Twenty-nine nurseries and kindergartens in Sharjah are all set for reopening on October 4, with strict Covid-19 precautionary measures in place, a top education official has said.

After meeting safety requirements – including the mandatory screening for all staff members – the nurseries have obtained their permission to operate from the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), an official from the Sharjah Education Council said.

Teams from the SPEA, the Early Childhood Development Department and the Ministry of Education all worked together in inspecting and evaluating the emirate’s nurseries, he added. They checked every nook and cranny, reviewed sterilisation practices, and looked into the protocols laid out for staff. Inspections and monitoring will continue to ensure nurseries’ compliance with all measures throughout their operations.

Safety guide

A set of guidelines has been rolled out to keep the little kids and kindergartners safe. Sanitation and maintaining social distancing norms are among the priorities.

Specific instructions were listed out, including those related to children’s meals and using toilets. A classroom’s capacity has been capped, and all facilities shall be sterilised periodically. Maintenance workers should not be allowed entry while there are children in the premises.

The guideline also details the standard protocol that must be followed in the event that a child or an employee falls sick or shows symptoms of a respiratory illness.

Reminder for parents

Parents are urged to keep their kids’ health in check, the education official said. In case their children develop symptoms or have been in contact with someone who tested positive, they must inform the nursery immediately.

Children with health conditions are not allowed to return to nurseries, he added.
