Suspected members of the terrorist group ‘Boko Haram’ killed at least 40 farmers of fishermen who produced paddy. It is being told that the slain farmers were harvesting the crop at that time. Officials said the attack was carried out at a paddy field in Garin Kwashebe area when the people of Borno community were harvesting paddy.
He said that this attack was carried out on the day when for the first time in 13 years people were voting for the local government in the state, although many people did not participate in it. According to the news, the extremists collected the farmers at one place and then opened fire on them. Malam Zabaramari, the leader of the Paddy Farmers Association of Borno State, has confirmed the massacre.
He said, “According to the information we have been attacked on the paddy fields of the Jabarmari community of Garin Quashebe, farmers, about 40 people have been killed by the afternoon and this number is expected to be 60.”
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned these killings. He said, “I condemn the killing of toiling peasants in Borno State by terrorists.” The entire country is saddened by these killings. My thoughts are with the families of the victims in this hour of grief. May God rest the soul of the dead. “
