Police say motorists who avoid traffic violations for six successive months will have their fines slashed by 50%

Ajman Police have announced that motorists who avoid traffic violations for six successive months will have their fines slashed by 50 percent.

Major General Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, said the move comes in implementation of the directives of Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, to observe the Year of Tolerance.

He said that motorists who avoid committing violations from January 1 to June 1 will avail of the discount in July, adding that decision will cover all traffic violations committed by the car owner in the emirate.

Al Nuaimi urged motorists to abide by the traffic rules to avoid accidents and hefty fines.

The move in Ajman follows a similar one in Dubai last month under which motorists can wipe out fines if they stay trouble-free for 12 months.

Dubai motorists can avoid having to pay traffic fines if they stay trouble-free for 12 months under a new initiative announced by Dubai Police

Police stipulated the discount rates, saying that if motorists follow the rules for 3 months, they get 25 percent discount on their fines and if they follow the rules for 6 months, they get 50 percent discount.
