- new Delhi. A big announcement has been made by the Central Government giving relief to the migrant laborers. Modi government has now extended the free grain scheme to more than 8 crore migrant laborers under the Self-Reliant India Package till 31 August. The government had announced to give 5 kg of grain per person free to migrant laborers. Now its distribution has now been extended to 31 August. According to the information, 26 states and Union Territories of the country have distributed less than 50 percent of the food grains in May and June under the Self Dependent India Package.States reduced the distribution of food grains,
Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that a total of 203 lakh metric tonnes of food grains are to be spent in the distribution of food grains in the country by November, but under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana from 7 states and union territories. The announcement was made by the government on
25 March 2020, because of the corona virus epidemic, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was announced. Under the National Food Security Act, more than 80 crores of the country, the beneficiaries started giving 5 kg of wheat or rice per person and 1 kg of pulses free to each family in addition to their monthly rations. On 30 June, once again, PM Modi, in his name’s address to the country, announced to give food grains free of cost to the poor of the country through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till November.

Paswan has also urged all the states to lift the food grains from the Food Corporation of India godowns to ensure free grain delivery time under PMGKAY-2. He said that FCI godowns have adequate stocks of food grains. There will be no shortage of food grains till November. The central government is bearing 100 percent weight of the scheme. Which is about 46,000 crores rupees. At the same time, 26 States and Union Territories of the country have distributed less than 50 percent of the food grains in the months of May and June under the Atma Dependent India Scheme.
