Spotlight falls on 13 worst-affected Indian cities

Rajiv Gauba, the Indian cabinet secretary reviews the worsening coronavirus situation in Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Held a meeting with city chiefs to plan further measures.

Indian cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba held a meeting with district magistrates and municipal commissioners of 13 worst affected Indian cities including Delhi and Mumbai to review the coronavirus pandemic situation. These 13 cities account for about 70 per cent of the positive Covid-19 cases in the country.

The 13 focus cities are: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata Thane, Hyderabad, and adjoining cities Indore, Jodhpur, Howrah, Jaipur, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu. The last two cities in the list are from Tamil Nadu region. However, among the 13 worst affected cities, Maharashtra was the only state from where there are three cities which are in the list.
