Kingdom launched app that uses “Exposure Notification” technologies

Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia has ranked 3rd globally in using modern technical capabilities to confront the COVID-19 pandemic, Saudi media reported.
In its relentless endeavors to stem the spread of the coronavirus, the Kingdom launched an application that uses the “Exposure Notification” technologies recently developed by Apple and Google to help alert users who may develop symptoms as a result of contact with people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 disease, reported Al jazirah.
This achievement came after the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (Sadaia) launched a “spacing” application in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, and the application relies on Bluetooth technology to sense devices close to the user’s device, and to save these data safely for a period of only 14 days, with the aim of alerting users in the event of their contact For people who are infected during this period, and alert messages are sent when a user is notified that he or she has tested positive for the virus.
The application is characterised by complete confidentiality and protection of the privacy of user data, as it does not require knowledge of identity, and gives the user the freedom to share the diagnosis of his injury or not, in addition to that it is free when using the internet. Among the benefits of using the application is that it helps to contain the crisis, and transition back to daily life while managing the risk of further outbreaks, taking into consideration the necessary precautionary measures approved by the concerned authorities.
Tabaud, Social Spacing, application is added to the list of successes achieved by Sadaia, including many initiatives, the most prominent of which are: the application “Tawakalna” to manage the move permits, the platform “Barouk” for secure visual communication, and “Center of Security and Health Operations” to support the security and health agencies, all of which were developed by national talents using data technologies and artificial intelligence. These initiatives reflect the high efficiency enjoyed by Sadaia in developing crisis management solutions in record time.
Google and Apple jointly created the Exposure Notifications System to help global community fight this pandemic through contact tracing.
