Dear parents, it’s time to start planning for another full week of the Dubai school holidays. Spring break is in full swing on the Dubai school holidays calendar and this year, it’s an extra special holiday.
Private schools in Dubai are getting a three-week holiday for spring break, following a government announcement on holidays for the public sector.
In a Monday April 1 post on X, formerly Twitter, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) officially revealed that private schools, nurseries and universities in Dubai will be out until Monday April 15

This is one week longer than the usual two-week spring break.
This longer school holiday has been allocated to accommodate Eid Al Fitr, which is expected to fall on either Tuesday April 9 2024 or Wednesday April 10 2024.
Both public and private sector workers will be off from Monday April 8 2024 with the exact length of time off depending on whether Ramadan is a 29 or 30-day month.
All private schools, universities and nurseries in Dubai will be closed from Monday, April 8 to Sunday, April 14. Regular working hours will resume from Monday, April 15. We wish you all an enjoyable Eid break.

With the weekend at the end of this, we’d be looking at either a six-day or nine-day break.
KHDA had previously advised of the longer holiday but could only “tentatively communicate public holidays (like Eid, UAE National Day) to parents and confirm them once declared by the UAE government authority”.
There is of course plenty to do in the city during this time – stay tuned to Time Out Dubai for ideas.
But if you want to travel abroad or even to the Emirates nearby, there are some lovely destinations only a few hours away.
