Dubai’s new Salik road toll peak charges come into effect

Dubai: The variable toll system of Salik will take effect in Dubai today (January 31).

Salik Company said that the implementation of the variable toll pricing will be applicable across all Salik gates.

“This initiative is designed to optimise traffic flow and provide a more efficient road usage experience for all motorists,” it said.

The company said there will be no change to the charging method when passing through Al Safa North and South toll gates, and Al Mamzar North and South toll gates in one direction within one hour. This means that users will only be charged once.

Following will be the new variable toll rates will apply every day of the year, excluding the Ramadan period:

  • Peak hours (6am–10am and 4pm-8pm): Dh6 per crossing.
  • Off-Peak Hours (10am-4pm and 8pm-1am): Dh4 per crossing.
  • Late Night (1am-6am, seven days a week): No tariff.
  • Sundays (excluding public holidays and events): Dh4, including peak and off-peak hours, excluding late night hours.

During Ramadan, the variable pricing schedule will be adjusted to accommodate changes in travel patterns as under:

  • Peak hours (9am-5pm): Dh6 per crossing.
  • Off-Peak Hours (7am-9am and 5pm-2am): Dh4 per crossing.
  • Late night (2am-7am): No tariff.
