The European Union’s foreign policy coordinator, Josep Borrell, announced the adoption of a new decision allowing the granting of multiple-entry visas to citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

This decision comes after new standards were set for granting multiple-entry visas to citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which aims to facilitate the repeated entry of Gulf citizens into European Union countries for the purposes of tourism, study, business, and others.

According to this decision, the “Schengen” visa will be granted “for a period of up to 5 years to everyone, instead of the previous system that was limited to one year for applying for a visa for the first time, and 3 years for subsequent times.”

It is expected that these amendments to visa rules will begin to be implemented in the coming period, which will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and opening new areas.

For his part, the French ambassador to the Kingdom, Ludovic Pouille, confirmed that the Saudi citizen will be able to obtain Schengen visas valid for 5 years upon submitting the first application, indicating his country’s support for this decision. Relations with the European Union.
