  • new Delhi. The Haryana government, led by Manohar Lal Khattar of Haryana, has canceled the contracts awarded to Chinese companies to install pollution control equipment at a cost of Rs 780 crore in two of its Thermal Power Projects. This step has been taken in view of the increased tension between the two neighboring countries. Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited awarded these contracts through global tendering to install equipment in plants located in Yamunanagar and Hisar towns.Glittering Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani selected as the only Indian in this listThe contracts awarded to these Chinese companies were awarded to
    Beijing SPC Environment Protection Tech for the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station at Yamunanagar, and Shanghai Electric Corp was selected for the Rajiv Gandhi thermal power plant at Hisar. Officials acknowledged that the prices quoted by Chinese companies were competitive. The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) was consulted while awarding the contracts.Reliance Industries created history, India’s first company to do so

    Re-tender will be floated The
    Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in its guidelines in December 2015 made it mandatory to install pollution control devices in thermal power plants. After the cancellation of these tenders, the state government has decided to invite fresh tender, but only on behalf of companies which are registered in India.

    Three bids came from China,
    five bids were received for the tender floated for Yamunanagar Power Station, out of which three bidders were from China and the other were Indian bidders. Three companies participated in the tender for the Hisar plant, two of which were Chinese and one was an Indian company with foreign collaborations.
