Kuwait City: An amnesty may be announced for those who violate the residency laws in Kuwait. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al Sabah revealed this. The months of March, April, and May are the time for illegal aliens to leave the country or legalize their status.
He stated that the government is considering announcing an amnesty, which would allow residency violators to leave Kuwait between March and May. Absentees returning home under the amnesty have to apply for re-entry visas to Kuwait through legal and approved channels. He also warned that those who stay in the country without availing the opportunity will be blacklisted.

There has been a huge increase in the number of expatriates in Kuwait. According to the figures released by the Public Authority for Civil Information, the number of expatriates in the country has increased.
The number of expatriates has increased to 68.3 percent of the total population of the country. The population growth rate in 2023 is the highest since 2005. surpassing the rate recorded in 2022. The number of citizens increased by 1.9 percent to 1.53 million. 2010 to 2019 shows steady but relatively slow growth compared to an average annual growth of 2.5 percent.
The non-Kuwaiti population grew sharply at 11 percent. The expatriate population is around 3.29 million. At present, non-residents constitute 68.3 percent of the total population. This is a slight increase from the 66.1 percent recorded at the end of 2021, but still lower than the 70 percent before the pandemic, the figures show.
