Kuwait revokes citizenship of 850 people and tightens control over citizenship to combat fraud and dual citizenship.

Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef announced that850 people stripped of their citizenship, Pointing out that the process of revoking citizenship will continue as part of the government’s efforts to preserve national identity and combat forgery.

Reasons for withdrawing Kuwaiti citizenship: Forgery and dual citizenship

In his statements to the newspaper Al-Qabas Kuwaiti, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef explained that the individuals whose nationalities were revoked did not object to the decisions of the competent committee, indicating that these decisions were supported by strong evidence and indications.

He added that the cases included in the withdrawal decision include forgery, fraud and deception in obtaining citizenship, in addition to dual nationals who are forced to choose between Kuwaiti citizenship and another.

Campaign continues: Hotline to report violations

The Minister confirmed that the file of revoking nationalities has not been closed yet, and that the campaign will continue after examining and verifying the various cases. He pointed out that the Ministry of Interior has allocated a hotline to report forgers and dual nationals since last March, and that it is still receiving reports on an increasing basis.

He explained that these reports are treated with complete neutrality and objectivity to ensure the validity of the procedures.

The beginning of the campaign.. official decisions and actual implementation

The campaign began last March, when the Official Gazette published the decisions of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality to revoke the citizenship of 11 people, setting off a series of similar decisions.

These measures are based on the law that requires citizens to report any crime, including fraud in obtaining citizenship.

Parliamentary discussions.. issues of forgery and dual nationality

The Kuwaiti National Assembly has previously discussed issues of forgery in obtaining citizenship, where former MP Marzouq Al-Ghanim reviewed the case of a fictitious person holding a nationality and passport with the aim of profiting from it.

These discussions are part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and preserve national identity in Kuwait.
