Riyadh Metro is the second metro system in Saudi Arabia after the first metro line in Mecca, which operates during the Hajj season only.
Once fully operational, the Riyadh Metro is expected to be the largest in the world to be completed in a single phase, and the longest driverless metro line in the world.
The agency said it was designed to meet Riyadh’s social, environmental and urban requirements, which are expected to contribute significantly to the city’s urban mobility needs.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City also announced the completion of the main network for the “Riyadh Bus” service within the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in Riyadh. This brings the total number of bus lines to 54, serving 679 buses through 2,145 stations and stops.
