The new Nothing smartphone, Phone (2a), was launched at the LEAP conference with powerful specifications.  Nothing announced the launch of its new smartphone, Phone (2a), at the LEAP 2024 conference, the most attended technical event in the world, which was held in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The new phone was launched to provide the ideal daily smartphone experience and meet the user’s basic needs by devoting Nothing’s expertise and excellence in design and craftsmanship.

The company says that the new phone is ideal for people who like to explore innovations and modern designs and know what they want (and what they don’t want) from their smartphones. It includes a unique and powerful processor, an exceptional 50-megapixel dual rear camera, an ultra-bright flexible AMOLED screen, and an easy-to-use operating system that provides a fast and smooth experience with every interaction.

The Phone (2a)’s Dimensity 7200 Pro processor is designed exclusively in collaboration with MediaTek to deliver the best performance with optimal power efficiency.

The Phone (2a) is equipped with the latest TSMC 4nm process technology to easily perform any task with unparalleled energy efficiency and speed. It also has 20GB of RAM, expandable via RAM Booster technology, and an 8-core chip with a speed of up to 2.8 GHz to ensure excellent responsive multitasking all day long. This results in 13% stronger performance and 16% more efficiency compared to Phone(1).

Together, Nothing and MediaTek have introduced improvements such as Smart Clean (more than 200% UFS read/write speeds during extended periods of use) and Adaptive NTFS (more than 100% file transfer speeds when connected to Windows PCs) that have been able to reduce the power consumption of certain components in phone by up to 10%.

Battery and charging

The Phone (2a) has the largest smartphone battery yet at 5,000 mAh, providing up to two days of use on a full charge. Not only is it larger, it also has better performance. Nothing has increased battery life by more than 25% compared to the Phone (1), which means that it is able to maintain more than 90% of its maximum capacity after 1,000 charging times, which is equivalent to more than three years of daily charging. The battery also has a 13% lower temperature when charging and consuming compared to the Phone (1), which contributes to the longevity of the phone.

The Phone (2a) supports the 45-watt fast charging feature, to provide fast charging operations that can provide 50% of power in just 20 minutes of charging. This is an ideal solution to avoid the risk of depleting battery life, which is often associated with increased wattage and charging speeds.

Camera

The Phone (2a) has a 50-megapixel dual rear camera supported by TrueLens Engine technology to capture the most beautiful pictures. The TrueLens Engine is a series of advanced algorithms that work together to ensure every shot taken with the Phone (2a) is as realistic as possible. The camera includes Ultra XDR technology, which was developed in collaboration with Google to ensure that lighting and shadows are displayed more accurately in every shot. This technology works by capturing 8 frames with different exposure levels in RAW format, then adjusting the brightness of each pixel up to 5 times to display the most realistic result.

The Phone (2a) also has an exceptional 32-megapixel front camera that uses the same sensor as the Phone (2), which has 27% more light sensitivity compared to the Phone (1) and allows more details to be displayed for perfect selfies anytime, anywhere.
