Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli did not attend the meeting of the powerful Standing Council of the ruling Communist Party in Nepal on Sunday. The meeting took place at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi. The charges against him were to be discussed in the meeting. Oli’s advisor Surya Thapa has told that the Prime Minister did not attend the Standing Council meeting due to his hectic schedule and danger of Kovid-19 epidemic.

The meeting was to discuss the allegations made by the party’s working president Pushp Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Prime Minister Oli. Oli has spoken of not cooperating in running the government on Prachanda and making false allegations. Oli and Prachanda attended the meeting of the party’s board of secretaries held at the Prime Minister’s residence on Saturday, but Oli did not reach the proposed meeting at the party office on Sunday.

Prachanda accuses Oli of corruption and arbitrary government. At the same time, the faction of former Prime Minister Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal led faction is to implement the system of one person-one post of the party, due to which Oli will have to leave one post. Oli does not allow this system to be implemented.

Meanwhile, there has been a protest in Kathmandu demanding the restoration of the monarchy in Nepal. People have taken out a procession with the national flag demanding to reestablish the monarchy and declare Nepal a Hindu nation again. In fact, Oli is under questions due to his China love and confrontation with party executive president Pushp Kamal Dahal Prachanda. This is why Nepal’s anger against the Oli government is unfolding.

In the past, Oli had submitted his reply to the ruling Communist Party on the allegations. In his reply in the form of a 38-page political document, he dismissed the charge of arbitrarily running the government without consulting the party. Ollie had said that he agreed and took the decision. He also alleged that some senior leaders including Prachanda are not cooperating with him in running the party.
