UK government initially suggested for the closed-door matches to be played at neutral venues. Some reports suggest that few clubs are opposing the idea – views that have been presented to the government by the league.
The Premier League, which will restart on June 17, is of the opinion that its aim is to play remaining games on the usual home and away basis but that they have a possible plan for neutral venues.
Some reports suggested that some games may have a risk of fans gathering in large crowd outside playing grounds, like the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool, would still be played at a neutral venue even if majority of the matches are organised on a home/away basis.
