RIYADH: As the Hajj month is about to enter, the authorities continue to strictly check Mecca to find illegal pilgrims. A large-scale campaign was conducted in this regard by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the last few days. Umrah pilgrims have been strictly advised to leave the country by June 6 and those on visitor visas should not enter or stay in Makkah. Restrictions have been imposed in Makkah until Dhul Hajj 15.

Currently, only pilgrims with a Hajj permit, those with permission to work in Makkah, and those with Makkah Iqama are allowed to enter Makkah. Residents of Makkah testify that many people who came to Makkah on visitor visas and stayed in Makkah were caught in the extensive checks carried out by the authorities in recent days.

Unlike previous years, there is strict police checking at the border check posts and various roads leading to Makkah. Due to this, the Malayali families who came to Makkah earlier on visit visa and are staying there are very worried. Such families are unable to leave their rooms due to strict inspection. Many Makkah expatriates are unable to send their families on visitor visas home immediately because of the sudden instructions. All the women and children who have come on a visit visa are active in the field of Hajj service.
