Abu Dhabi police have announced a change in the timing of traffic restrictions for trucks and heavy vehicles on the emirate’s roads during Ramadan. The modification, aimed at managing rush-hour traffic more effectively, was communicated via social media platforms. Specifically, the adjustment targets trucks and buses carrying more than 50 workers.
The chief of the Central Operations Sector’s Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols, General Mahmoud Youssef Al Balushi, provided more details on the new rules. Heavy vehicular traffic would not be allowed on Abu Dhabi roadways between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00, according to Al Balushi. The hours of 8 am to 10 am in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain will be subject to this ban. Not only that, but heavier trucks will also be limited during the evening rush, which usually happens between 2 and 4 pm during the holy month of Ramadan.

The rationale behind these restrictions is to alleviate congestion during the busiest times of the day, ensuring smoother traffic flow for all road users. Al Balushi emphasized the importance of compliance with these regulations and underscored the deployment of traffic patrols on all roads. Additionally, the authorities plan to intensify the use of smart traffic control systems to monitor and enforce the restrictions effectively.
