Compensation order issued by ruler Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi
Residents in Ras Al Khaimah, who were affected by the rain storms earlier this month, are to share in a AED9 million ($2.5 million) compensation pot issued by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
Around 120 families in the Al Fahleen area were badly affected by flooding as a result of the torrential downpours, while over 1,000 incidents of damaged roads, fallen walls and rocks, landslides and uprooted trees and poles were also reported.
In the aftermath, a committee was formed under the direction of Al Qasimi, which toured the emirate and met with people whose properties were damaged. A report was then prepared for Al Qasimi.
According to a report by state run Emirates News Agency (WAM): “The move to provide compensation aims to offer swift support to individuals and families whose properties have been damaged and help them overcome the situation and return to living a normal and dignified life.”
