Riyadh authorities announced a holiday for all schools

Riyadh: In Saudi Arabia, the National Meteorological Center has announced heavy rain, and the Riyadh authorities have given a holiday to schools. The Department of Education in Riyadh region has declared a holiday for all schools today (Wednesday).

Schools will remain closed but students will be able to do distance learning through approved platforms including Madrasati and Ravdati platforms. This decision of the Education Department is to ensure safety in the event of rain. Apart from students, the decision also applies to teachers and administrative staff of schools under the education department in the region, officials said through X platform.

Meanwhile, there was heavy rain and thunder in Saudi Arabia last day. Heavy rains caused widespread flooding and damage. Due to heavy rains in Makkah and Madinah, waterlogging is severe in many places.

Wadi Hura in Makkah region received the most rain. Wadi Fatima also has a torrent of mountain water. There was heavy rain in Taif as well. Heavy rain fell in Al Eez governorate in Madinah region. Due to this, the valleys and other areas were filled with rainwater. Vehicles were submerged in water and damage was done.

The Saudi Civil Defense in the Medina region has warned the public to be cautious. Most parts of Saudi Arabia will experience unstable weather till Friday. The Saudi authorities have given a warning. Strong winds in Madinah, Makkah, Jeddah, Abha and Najran areas. Moderate to heavy rain with hail and thunder The National Weather Center has informed that there is a possibility of The Saudi General Directorate of Civil Defense issued a security alert due to the forecast of rain. Thunderstorms and weather warnings have been issued.
