Meanwhile, an Indian citizen died during a missile attack in Russia. 23-year-old Hemil Mangukiya, a resident of Gujarat, was killed in a missile attack in Russia on February 21. Hamill’s body did not come to India. He was a resident of Anandnagar Wadi in Varachha, a Patidar area of Surat. Now the Mangukiya family will perform the last rites without the body at their home on Monday evening.
Hamill’s father Ashwin Mangukiya said, “We request our government to talk to the Russian authorities and bring my son’s body to his hometown Surat,” The Indian Express reported. He died on February 21. We don’t even know where his body is. We don’t even have any information to talk to anyone else.
We are helpless.” According to him, Hamill last spoke to him on February 20. He died on 21 February. Hamill told his father that he was fine but did not reveal what job he had. The family only knew that he worked as a “helper” in Russia. They later learned that Hamill had been “deployed to a war zone” on the Ukraine border.
Ashwin said that he received the news of Hamill’s death on February 23. He said, “The man calling himself Imran, a resident of Hyderabad, called us at 6 pm on Friday (February 23) and told us about his death in a missile attack in the war zone. Imran said that his brother was also with Hamill.” This matter has come to light at a time when Russia is accused of deploying many Indians in the Ukraine war.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has raised with Russia the issue of allegedly forcibly recruiting Indian youth into the Russian army and deploying them on the Ukraine border. Also demanded to free such youth soon. Recently, reports in this regard have been published in the media in which some youths have claimed that agents took them to Russia on the pretext of getting them jobs and were deployed on the Ukraine border through the Russian Army.
“We are aware that some Indian nationals have been contracted for support jobs in the Russian military,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in response to a question on Friday. The Indian Embassy in Moscow is regularly taking up the matter with Russian authorities. So that they can be freed soon.”
The Ministry of External Affairs said that we also urge all Indians to take appropriate precautions in such matters and stay away from this conflict. It is known that according to the reports published in the media, cases have come to light of three youths from Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Kashmir, who reached Russia through agents. He was recruited as an assistant in the army. After this he was deployed on the Ukraine border. One of these youths is also injured. Their families have demanded the Indian government to bring them back home soon.
