Saudi Arabia extends the exemption from fines for taxpayers until the end of 2024

The Zakat Authority said that the new initiative does not include fines related to tax evasion violations, in addition to fines that were paid before the effective date of this initiative.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority announced On the issuance of the Minister of Finance’s decision to extend the initiative Cancel fines Exemption from financial penalties for taxpayers subject to all tax regulations until December 31, 2024.

The authority explained that this extension comes to enable taxpayers to benefit from the initiative, and to mitigate the economic impacts on establishments as a result of the Corona pandemic.

Fines included in the initiative include: Late payment penalty In registering, paying and submitting the return in all tax systems, the fine for correcting the value-added tax return, and fines for field control violations related to the application of electronic invoicing provisions and other general provisions for value-added tax.

To benefit from the initiative, the taxpayer must be registered in the tax system, submit all required returns to the Authority that have not been previously submitted, disclose all undisclosed taxes correctly, and pay the full principal of the tax debt related to the submitted or amended returns to correctly disclose the obligations. Tax due.

Taxpayers can also apply for installments, provided that the application is submitted during the validity of the initiative and that they commit to paying all due installments according to the installment plan approved by the Authority.

The initiative does not include fines related to tax evasion violations and fines paid before the effective date of this initiative.

The Authority called on taxpayers to review the details of the initiative through the simplified guide available on its website, which explains the types of fines included, the conditions for benefiting from the exemption, and the steps for distributing financial dues in installments, with illustrative examples.

The Authority also urged all taxpayers to benefit from the extension and communicate with it through its official platforms.
