Sharjah: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has begun distributing annual bonuses totaling Dh 9.37 million to owners of old taxi number plates, following directives issued by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The initiative, which supports 4,686 beneficiaries across the emirate, aims to improve the living standards of low-income citizens and reflects Sharjah’s broader commitment to social welfare and equity.

Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, said the bonus is allocated to individuals whose taxi plates are currently operated under franchise agreements regulated by the Authority.

He noted that the support falls within the framework of His Highness’s ongoing efforts to uphold the dignity and well-being of all citizens, especially those with limited income.

Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs at SRTA, said that the distribution process is carefully regulated to ensure that only eligible recipients receive the bonus, with SRTA working to simplify procedures and eliminate obstacles for applicants.

Eligible individuals who have yet to complete the necessary documentation are encouraged to do so in order to receive their payment. For inquiries or assistance, beneficiaries can contact SRTA through the official numbers 600525252 or 0564144667.
