TikTok plans to publish educational videos online to explain how to distinguish artificial intelligence content from real content.

The social media platform TikTok announced a new initiative to enhance transparency by automatically tagging any content created by artificial intelligence.

This step aims to prevent “causing confusion or misleading” users, especially with the increasing prevalence of generative artificial intelligence techniques that are used to create stunningly realistic texts, images, and videos.

This initiative by TikTok comes as part of broader efforts made by social media platforms to combat the spread of misleading information and enhance confidence in the content available on the Internet. Platforms face great challenges in distinguishing content produced by artificial intelligence from real content, especially with the rapid development of these technologies.

Tik Tok is the first platform to automatically flag all content produced by artificial intelligence, while other platforms such as Facebook and YouTube rely on algorithms to detect this type of content, with the ability for users to intervene to report any suspicious content.

TikTok indicated that this step aims to ensure that users have accurate and clear information about the source of the content they are viewing, allowing them to better evaluate it and make informed decisions about sharing or interacting with it.
