UAE announces 10-year validity of passports for citizens 21 and above

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security announced the start of Issuance of an Emirati passport for a period of Validity of 10 years for citizens aged 21 years and above, starting from today, Monday, July 08, 2024.According to WAM.

This update aims to enhance citizens’ comfort and provide proactive services that meet their needs, including facilitating travel procedures and enhancing the quality of life.

This step comes within the Authority’s strategic objectives for the period 2023-2026, which focus on developing an advanced system to serve citizens and residents.

Features of the new passport:

  • Longer shelf life: 10 years instead of 5 years.
  • Ease of renewal: Apply when the current passport expires.
  • Streamlined Procedures: Same procedures, standards and controls as currently in place.
  • Multiple service delivery channels: through the authority’s approved channels.
