Let us tell you that the new visa rules that will come into effect from 5 September will allow parents living in the UAE to sponsor their sons at university in the emirate until the age of 25.

Previously, parents could sponsor their children up to the age of 18 and then renew the visa for three years, subject to the condition that their children were studying at a university.

The new rules offer major relief to parents who have struggled to pay for university visa sponsorship in the UAE. Those studying abroad will return on a visit visa to see their families living in the UAE.

Now as per the new rules, unmarried daughters and children with disabilities are allowed residence, regardless of their age.

Know about the validity of Family Residence Visa

In all cases, the period of residence for the son or daughter must be the same period as the residence permit of their parents, which may be for two or three years.

Children’s residence permits are linked to the permit of the sponsoring migrant worker. If the sponsoring parent’s visa is revoked, it requires cancellation of the dependents’ visas.

Dependents are given a grace period of 30 days from the date of their visa expiration or cancellation to obtain a new residence permit. If the employee fails to renew or cancel the visas of his dependents, the dependents will be treated as illegal residents and may have to pay a fine. So keep all the rules in mind.
