Abu Dhabi: The UAE has made an important announcement the other day, Blue Residency Visa. A 10-year visa is granted. The Blue Residency Visa is awarded based on outstanding contributions to environmental protection.
Visas are given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of environmental protection. Contributions to improving air quality, protecting the marine and terrestrial environment, ensuring sustainability and developing technology for this will be considered.
Sustainable initiatives within and outside the UAE will also be considered for this. Blue Residency will be granted to supporters of environmental activities, including members of international companies, associations and non-governmental organizations, global award winners, distinguished environmental activists and researchers in the field of environment.

Eligible candidates can submit applications through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. The concerned authorities can also nominate the names of the eligible persons.
The announcement is part of the observance of 2024 as the Year of Sustainability. The announcement was made by the UAE Cabinet. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE, said that environmental sustainability is as important as economic sustainability. Currently, the UAE is offering golden visas to talents including students who have made unique contributions.
