The UAE Green Visa is a 5-year renewable residency permit that allows you to stay in the UAE on your own sponsorship, meaning you don’t need a company or local employer.

This visa is for those who are professionals, freelancers, or run their own small business. Its purpose is to bring talented people to the UAE and strengthen the economy here.

Who can get this visa?

There are three types of people who can apply for this:

1. Skilled Employees

Must have a job in UAE

Must be at Skill Level 1, 2 or 3 as decided by the Ministry of Human Resources (MoHRE)

At least a Bachelor’s Degree

Salary: Minimum AED 15,000 (approximately ₹3.40 lakh) per month

2. Freelancers / Self-employed

Freelance permit from MoHRE required

Graduate or Diploma required

Annual income of at least AED 360,000 (~₹82 lakhs) or financial proof in the last two years

3. Small Investors / Partners (Businessmen or Investors)

Investment of minimum AED 1,000,000 (~₹2.3 crores) in a local company

Investment documents and regulatory approval required

Benefits of Green Visa

  • Own sponsorship – no company needed
  • Validity of 5 years , can be renewed
  • Family sponsorship – wife, children (boys up to 25 years), unmarried daughters at any age
  • 6 months grace period after visa expires
  • Multiple entry and e-visa facility

How to apply?

From online portal (ICP or GDRFA)

1- Log in to the site

2- Select “Green Residency issuance service”

3- Select your category

4- Upload documents (passport, degree, contract etc.)

5- Pay the fees-

  • Visa: AED 200
  • Entry permit: AED 500
  • Other charges (Dirham): AED 20

6- Medical Test and Biometric

7- Get e-visa and Emirates ID

Offline – by visiting Amer or Happiness Center
  • Move documents
  • Fill out the application
  • Process after biometric and fees
  • Time: It takes about 2 to 4 weeks.
