648 Drivers arrested in Saudi for illegal taxi service

Riyadh: 648 people were arrested for carrying passengers without taxi permits at Saudi airports. The Saudi General Transport Authority also announced that 582 cars were seized. So many fake taxis were caught during the period from 17th to 23rd of Ramadan. This is part of the intensive monitoring campaign conducted by the Transport Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and related departments.

The authority explained that the aim of the campaign is to provide legitimate transport facilities for passengers at airports, avoid illegal taxis and improve the quality of services provided to passengers. The authority has reiterated that a fine of 5000 riyals will be imposed on vehicles carrying passengers without a taxi permit at airports. The vehicle will be impounded.
