A unified license for economic establishments in Abu Dhabi

The unified license initiative for economic establishments in Abu Dhabi contributes to supporting investors by facilitating the ease and speed of the business establishment process through digital channels.

Launched by the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi Unified license for economic establishments In the emirate, in cooperation with the Free Zones Council, the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KIZAD Group), the Abu Dhabi Airports Free Zone, the Masdar City Free Zone, and the Creative Media Authority.

The initiative aims to enhance Abu Dhabi’s competitive position as a preferred destination for investors and entrepreneurs. It focuses on unifying the procedures for registering economic establishments, ensuring the provision and updating of company data in the unified registry, improving the data management process, and enhancing cooperation between the relevant authorities in the emirate and the free zones, which contributes to smooth business establishment and enhancing governance and transparency.

The initiative contributes to supporting investors through the ease and speed of the business establishment process through digital channels.

The authorities concerned with registering economic establishments in the emirate and its free zones have formed work teams to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.

Ahmed Jassim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Free Zones Council, said: “Free zones play an important role in economic diversification and attracting foreign direct investments to accelerate the transition to a smart, diversified and sustainable economy to achieve the benefit of everyone within the framework of the growing Falcon economy.

” Unifying procedures for registering economic establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi represents an important step, which confirms Abu Dhabi’s keenness to strengthen a business system that matches the highest international levels, and to enable investors, entrepreneurs and distinguished talents to benefit from the broad and promising opportunities provided by the emirate’s vibrant and active economy, through developing and modernizing legislative frameworks. And appropriate regulatory, as well as accelerating the process of digital transformation.”

For his part, Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said that the new unified licensing system will yield the desired results in improving and facilitating business establishment procedures and will undoubtedly enhance the competitiveness of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the global stage.

It is noteworthy that the Free Zones Council, which was established in 2021, improves the standards of cooperation between the free zones and the rest of the concerned authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and develops legislation, policies and performance standards to ensure that they keep pace with economic and social strategies.
