America: Ship caught fire at Naval Base San Diego, 21 people injured

  • Washington 21 people were injured when a ship exploded and caught fire at a naval base in San Diego, USA. According to Mike Raine, spokesperson for the Naval Surface Force in the US Pacific Fleet, ‘USS Bonhomme Richard’ caught fire shortly before 9 am Sunday.Raine told that 17 naval and four civilians scorched by fire have been admitted to the hospital. There is no threat to his life. The cause of the explosion and fire in the vessel is being investigated. Raine said that around 160 people were on board the vessel at the time of the accident.

    The Navy released its statement on Sunday, saying that 17 soldiers and four civilians are under treatment at a local hospital. They are all out of danger. Attempts are made to contact everyone on the ship. The fire brigade is trying to extinguish the fire.

    Earlier, according to the Navy report, 18 moderately injured soldiers have been sent to the local hospital for treatment. The fire started around 8:30 pm local time on Sunday. According to the Navy, two other ship missile destroyers deployed at the San Diego base, USS FitzGerald and USS Russell, have been instructed to move away from the fire.




    Significantly, the ship caught fire during routine maintenance. The number of crew on the ship is about one thousand. The Navy said that all sailors aboard the ship have been removed on Sunday. The cause of the fire on the USS Bonhomme is being investigated
