The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has recognised Bahrain’s generosity and hosting abilities by recognising the country during their end-of-year awards ceremony with a special award for Best Host Nation, a recognition which no other nation has ever received before from the international organisation.

The announcement was made this Friday, December 11th, during the IMMAF Awards, a virtual event that honoured the biggest figures in amateur mixed martial arts today, including some of Bahrain’s finest athletes.

The award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the people of Bahrain and an attestation to their welcoming nature, a trait that has made the country a must-visit destination for sports fans around the globe.

Mohammed Shahid, president of BRAVE Combat Federation and CEO of KHK Sports, was ecstatic after receiving the news and described what this award means to Bahrain as a nation.

‘’This is a great achievement for the entire country. It shows that Bahrain is ready to host some of the biggest events in the world,” Shahid says. “Bahrain’s capability of hosting and welcoming people from all around the world and all walks of life has been highlighted. Year after another, the people have continued to prove their desire to provide a welcoming place for visitors from around the world and having that generosity rewarded is a great moment for Bahrain.”

Despite there being very few amateur competitions held in 2020, Team Bahrain continued to achieve new heights during a difficult year for mixed martial arts with the help of the fastest growing mixed martial arts promotion.

BRAVE CF ensured the preservation and growth of young athletes from the MENA region, and kept youth fighters occupied by giving them a chance to fight in during their events, thus providing amateur athletes with extra exposure and experience.

This has allowed the fighters from the region to maintain their learning curve intact, and has extended the leadership role that BRAVE CF enjoys in the Middle East as the leading organisation in the region as well as the provider of the biggest opportunities for local talents.
