Decline in Rural Unemployment Rate
While talking about the rural unemployment rate, the decline has been observed. The release of sowing of MNREGA and Kharif season has provided employment to the people in the villages. According to the data, the rural unemployment rate was 8.75 percent in March. The week ended May 3 came down to 27.1 percent. Since then it has continued to decline.
In the first three weeks of June, the unemployment rate has come down to 17.5 percent, 11.6 percent and now 8.5 percent. According to the report, the unemployment rate in rural India has come down to 7.26 percent in the week ended 21 June. In the pre-lockdown week ended March 22, it stood at 8.3 per cent.
