The medics and all other workers put their own health on the line for patients every single day.’

Applauding the untiring efforts of the healthcare staff in the UAE and across the world, a Dubai resident and his son have shaved off their hair.

Fifty-four-year old Karama resident Ramakant Dixit and his 21-year-old son Vindhesh have their heads clean shaven, after they decided to do so over a dinner table discussion last night.

“My daughter shaved my son’s hair and my son shaved my hair this morning. We are dedicating this to all the medics and all other workers in the forefront. These folks put their own health and potentially their lives on the line for patients every single day,” said Ramakant.

Vindhesh is a medical student in Tbilisi, Georgia, and this makes the family feel for the plight of medical workers.

“My son is stuck here now. During our discussion we thought, this is the least we can do to show our support to the cause.”

Equally hailing the efforts of the police, cleaning staff, journalists and delivery boys, Ramakant added: “My wife is asking my 19-year-old daughter Vidhi to do the same now – to dedicate her precious locks, which she is seriously considering.”

Hoping that this may prove to be some motivation for others to follow government’s calls upon public to stay home, the UAE resident for 31 years said: “It’s because of our caregivers that many who are suffering can return home safe today.

“Everyone who works in the healthcare sector deserves praise, especially now. They are shouldering so much and an extra emotional weight as well. Let’s inspire others to stand by their side and create some movement for their cause, at least on social media platforms,” he added.
