A leading health expert said deaths in the US will continue to rise if drastic action is not taken as coronavirus cases in the country passed the grim milestone of two million.

‘Even if we don’t have increasing cases, even if we keep things flat, it’s reasonable to expect that we’re going to hit 200,000 deaths sometime during the month of September,” Ashish Jha, the head of Harvard’s Global Health Institute said.

The UAE announced 603 new cases on Wednesday evening, bringing the country’s total to 40,507.

Globally, coronavirus cases reached 7.3 million on Thursday, with 3.4 million recoveries and 416,116 deaths.
