Thick fog smothered coastal areas of the UAE on Tuesday morning to create treacherous driving conditions during the early morning rush hour.
Weather warnings issued by the National Centre of Meteorology reminded motorists to be vigilant on the roads, particularly in Dubai where visibility was reduced to less than 50 metres in some places.
Low visibility was cited as a major factor in a 21-car pile up on the Dubai Bypass in Sharjah towards Umm Al Quwain on Monday, when two people were injured.
The mist is expected to clear through the day, with temperatures climbing to 41°C in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
It will be mainly clear skies for much of the country, although cloud formation is more likely inland and on the east coast.
