Dubai Airport: 100 international airlines serve 252 destinations worldwide

The most recent data published on the Dubai Airports Corporation website reveals that Dubai International Airport now offers direct flights to 252 destinations across 102 countries spanning six continents, serving approximately 100 international airlines.

In the first quarter of 2023, Dubai International Airport not only recovered all its destinations but also surpassed pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels in terms of global connectivity and the number of airlines. This growth coincided with increased travel activity during the winter season of 2023–2024.

Dubai International Airport is seeing an increase in the number of foreign carriers resuming operations; Emirates carriers and Flydubai are setting the standard for growing passenger destinations within their networks. Both airlines use Dubai International as their main operational hub, accounting for a sizeable portion of flights and destinations. Dubai International Airport welcomed 87 million passengers in 2023, making it an incredible year filled with notable achievements. This result was the airport’s fastest recovery among major airports worldwide, surpassing both annual estimates and pre-pandemic passenger traffic levels.

In comparison with 2019, the airport’s yearly passenger traffic increased by 31.7%. This gain was mostly due to strong growth in the second half of 2023, when 45.4 million passengers passed through the airport. In the first quarter of 2024, there were 14.73 million scheduled seats (or roughly 29.46 million seats round-trip) available on international flights leaving from Dubai International Airport. The worldwide organization OAG, which offers comprehensive data for airports and airlines, has released a quarterly study that shows a 9.7% rise over the same period in 2023.

Overall, the continuous expansion of Dubai International Airport’s global connectivity network and passenger traffic highlights its resilience and recovery following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, positioning it as a vital player in the global aviation industry.
