Dubai International Airport connects to 260 cities in 104 countries via 90 airlines

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said: Dubai international airport It is growing at a rapid rate, and about 91.4 million passengers are expected by the end of this year, and about 100 million passengers by 2027.

Griffiths added in Statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM)“Growth is always among our priorities, and we are confident that our airport’s connection to 260 cities in 104 countries via 90 airlines will continue to grow.”

Griffiths’ statements came on the sidelines of the activities of the last day of the 80th Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which Dubai is hosting from June 2 to 4.

Regarding the measures being taken to facilitate and simplify the movement of passengers within the airport, Griffiths stressed that the adoption and introduction of new technologies is ongoing and contributes to accelerating the process of processing passenger procedures without the need to expand the infrastructure.

He said: “We were able to increase the flow rate of people through Dubai International Airport during the month of January 2024, and we accommodated about 8 million people, and this was a record number. We did this by accelerating procedures, and we got happy customers because they spend less time passing through.” The airport and we also obtained greater capacity without the need to build additional infrastructure, which is very expensive.”

Regarding the expected timing of companies moving to Al Maktoum Airport, he said: “The project, which costs $32 billion, will take about 10 years in the first phase of expansion, and I believe that by that time we will see Emirates, Flydubai and other airlines moving to the new airport.”

Griffiths considered that the annual general meeting of “IATA” in Dubai is one of the very important events in the aviation industry, “as it constitutes a forum that brings stakeholders in the sector together to discuss topical issues, the most prominent of which was undoubtedly the issue of recovery from the pandemic, and how the industry quickly demonstrated its flexibility.” And its ability to overcome the pandemic.”
