Phone booths provide commuters with a priceless chance to deepen friendships and ties with family. As part of the ‘We Bring You Closer’ campaign, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has installed unique phone booths at Dubai Metro stations that allow passengers to contact with their loved ones around the globe.
During the holy month of Ramadan, Metro subscribers may stay in touch with their loved ones by making free international calls. Four phone booths have been installed at four metro stations, including Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations, in cooperation with Keolis, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram.
During this holy time, millions of expats in the emirate part from their families, thus these phone booths set up in the stations provide a priceless chance to reaffirm family ties and make new acquaintances.
Ramadan initiatives
RTA launched a number of community-based and humanitarian projects throughout the holy month with the slogan “Journey of Good.” These programs are designed to improve community involvement and teamwork, and they are being carried out in partnership with RTA volunteers and Keolis, the operator of Dubai Metro and Trams. These coordinated efforts will result in the execution of a range of Ramadan-focused events, activities, and initiatives that are aimed at an inclusive community that includes workers and Abra riders as well as RTA employees, bus drivers, delivery bikers, and truck drivers.
Modes of good initiative
An extension of RTA’s annual Meals On Wheels program, the Modes of Good project spreads the giving spirit across a variety of transportation options. 8,000 meals are prepared and distributed throughout Ramadan by volunteers and staff from RTA’s different backgrounds as part of a charitable endeavor. Abras and a special bus built for this purpose are used for the delivery. This program supports Abra riders, truck drivers, delivery bike riders, and bus drivers annually. To strengthen the sense of community, volunteers from the program often pay special visits to worker lodgings to distribute meals.
Ramadan tent project
RTA, in cooperation with charitable societies, is launching the Ramadan Tent Project, in partnership with the Beit Al Khair Society. This initiative is aimed at providing 2000 Iftar meals to fasting individuals by setting up a dedicated tent.
Internal initiatives of employees
The How to Prepare for Ramadan program, which consists of three remote workshops intended to promote healthy fasting practices and emphasize the significance of keeping a balanced diet prior to the start of the holy month, is one of the many internal initiatives carried out by RTA employees.
RTA organized the Ramadan Bazaar and Iftar Gathering to bring leaders and employees together over the iftar meal in order to foster communication. RTA hopes that by promoting social communication among staff members and spreading a culture of tolerance, this project will improve the working environment.
