Dubai International Airport is the second busiest airport in the world in 2023

Dubai International Airport ranked second in the world on the list of the busiest airports for the year 2023, according to the classification of the Airports Council International.

Dubai Airport jumped from the fifth place it occupied last year, recording a distinguished achievement that reflects its growing position as a leading global center for air travel.

According to a statement issued by the Airports Council International, reported by the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during the year 2023, Dubai International Airport received more than 86.99 million passengers, achieving tremendous growth that reflects the return of strong activity in the air travel sector after the Corona pandemic.

Dubai International Airport’s ranking in second place is a tremendous achievement that adds to its impressive record of achievements, as the airport maintained its first position in the world in terms of international passenger traffic for the eighth year in a row. This achievement is also a strong testimony to Dubai’s position as a leading global center for business and tourism.

Dubai International Airport’s achievement was not only limited to ranking second in the world in terms of total numbers of passengers, but the airport also witnessed exceptional performance at all levels. The airport has maintained its first position in the world in terms of international passenger traffic, and has also witnessed remarkable growth in air cargo traffic, as the volume of air cargo handled through the airport increased by 12.6% during the year 2023.

Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General of Airports Council International, explained that the exceptional performance of Dubai International Airport reflects the strong growth witnessed by the global air travel sector, especially in the field of international travel.

De Oliveira added that “China’s reopening and the growing propensity towards travel despite macroeconomic conditions” have contributed significantly to this growth.
