The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, in cooperation with Keolis MHI (Dubai Metro and Tram Operator), announced the launch of a new operating scenario for the Dubai Metro Red Line, with the aim of improving the daily commute experience for users by providing direct trips from the Center Point station to the two UAE stations. United Exchange and Expo 2020 without the need to transfer between trains at Jebel Ali Station.
According to a statement issued by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, this measure is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at improving flight schedules, punctuality, and operating efficiency on the Dubai Metro Red Line.
This development includes a fundamental modification to the line’s operating mechanism by activating the operation of trains in the Y-junction manner, while maintaining punctuality during peak times.
Advantages of Y-junction technology:
- Y-junction technology is a term used internationally in train operations in which trains run in turns.
- This technology provides direct trips from Center Point Station to the UAE Exchange Station and Expo 2020 Station without the need to transfer between trains at Jebel Ali Station.
- Flights from the Expo 2020 station and the UAE Exchange station terminate at Center Point, making transportation easier for everyone.
Hassan Al-Mutawa, Director of the Train Operations Department at the Roads and Transport Authority, confirmed that these improvements were based on studies indicating a continuous increase in the number of passengers on the metro’s Red Line.
