Dubai’s international tourists rose 18% to 3.67 million tourists in two months

Western European countries were at the forefront of regions exporting tourists to Dubai during the months of January and February, with a rate of 21%, or about 773 thousand tourists.

Has risen Number of international tourists to Dubai by 18% to 3.67 million in the first two months of this year (January and February), compared to 3.1 million tourists in the same period of 2023, according to the “January-February” tourism performance report issued by Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai.

Dubai attracted 1.77 million international visitors during January, and 1.9 million visitors during February.

The ranking of geographical regions exporting tourists to Dubai during the months of January and February is as follows:

  • Western Europe leads with 21%, or about 773,000 tourists.
  • South Asia with 604 thousand visitors, constituting 17% of the total number of visitors.
  • Gulf Cooperation Council countries with 549 thousand visitors, constituting 15% of the total number of tourists.
  • Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Eastern Europe are fourth on the list of countries exporting tourists to Dubai, with 530,000, constituting 14% of the total visitors to the emirate.
  • Middle East and North Africa countries with 448 thousand tourists, constituting 12%.
  • North and Southeast Asian countries, with a share of 9%, or about 340 thousand visitors.
  • The number of visitors to Dubai from the Americas reached 240,000, representing 7% of the total visitors.
  • The number of visitors from Africa reached 138,000, or about 4%.
  • The number of visitors from Australia reached 53,000, constituting about one percent of the total international visitors to Dubai during the first two months.

The number of hotel rooms in Dubai increased to 151,269 rooms in 826 establishments by the end of February 2024, compared to 148,450 rooms in 813 establishments by the end of February 2023.

The average hotel occupancy in all establishments operating in Dubai during the first two months of the current year increased to 87%, compared to about 84% during the period. The same from 2023.

The number of rooms booked during the first two months of this year also increased to 7.78 million rooms, compared to about 7.28 million rooms during the same period in 2023.

The hotel rooms were distributed as follows according to the hotel classification:

  • 5-star category: 52,118 rooms in 161 properties, accounting for 35% of the total number of hotel rooms in Dubai.
  • 4-star category: 43,792 rooms in 197 properties.
  • One and three-star category 29,037 rooms in 275 properties.
  • The number of luxury hotel apartment rooms reached 13,764 rooms, and the number of mid-level hotel apartment rooms reached 12,558 rooms.

The average length of stay for guests was 3.8 hotel nights during last January-February.
The average daily price of a hotel room during the months of January and February increased by 9% to 664 dirhams, compared to 609 dirhams during the corresponding period in 2023.
