Eid Al Fitr holiday: UAE residents could get up to 9 days off

Abu Dhabi: A long holiday awaits UAE residents. To celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, you will get a holiday of up to nine days.

Ramadan fasting started in the UAE from Monday, March 11. Like all months of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is 29 or 30 days long. This is based on the appearance of the monthly birth. Eid-ul-Fitr falls on the first of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan. According to the list of holidays announced by the UAE government for the public and private sectors, residents will get a holiday from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. If Ramadan lasts 30 days, Eid will be on April 10. But if Ramadan is only 29 days then Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on April 9.

If Ramadan lasts for 30 days, the holiday will be from April 8 (Ramadan 29) to April 12 (Shawwal 3). Adjacent days before and after holidays are Saturday and Sunday. Including weekend holidays, the total leave is 9 days.

But if Ramadan is only 29 days then Eid holiday will be from April 8th to April 11th. If the weekend holiday is also counted, the Eid holiday will be six days. From Saturday 6th April to Thursday 11th April. Eid-ul-Fitr is the second public holiday after the New Year holiday on January 1. The next holiday will be Eid al-Adha.
