Riyadh: Today is a small holiday in the Gulf countries. Eid-ul-Fitr, which comes after fasting, is widely celebrated by locals and expatriates. In the countries of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, Eid is celebrated on completion of 30 days of fasting, but in Oman, which started fasting a day late, after seeing the new moon, Eid is celebrated today after completing 29 days of fasting.
The Little Feast is a day of prayer, gathering, sharing and celebration. The expatriates are also happy to get a long vacation. Fireworks will be set off at 13 places in Saudi as part of the Eid celebration. Fireworks are everywhere on the first day of the festival at 9 pm. There are two days in Jeddah alone. Other Gulf countries have also prepared huge celebrations to welcome the festival. Ramadan fasting started on March 11 in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries except Oman. Eid holiday for Saudi private sector firms is four days from April 9.

UAE government public sector employees will get a short festive holiday of one week. If weekend holidays are also taken into account, a total of nine days long leave will be received. Holidays will be available from Monday, April 8 to Sunday, April 14. Working hours are from April 15.
Those working in the private sector in the UAE get four days of festive leave. Ramadan will be available from Monday 29 (April 8) to Shawwal 3. 4 or 5 paid holidays are available depending on the month of birth.
Holidays in Kuwait from April 9 to 14. The working day will resume from Sunday, April 14. Five days leave will be given on Friday and Saturday as public holidays. Government ministries, agencies and public institutions will not function on these days. But institutions for emergency purposes will function.
Public and private sector employees will have a holiday in Oman from Tuesday 9th to 11th April. The working day will resume on Sunday, April 14 after the holiday. Five days of leave including weekend holidays will be available. A holiday has been declared in Qatar for the minor festival. Amiri Diwan announced the holiday. Ministries, other government institutions and public institutions will be closed from Sunday, April 7 to Monday, April 15. The working day will resume on Tuesday, April 16.
