Gulf Housing Ministers launch a financial award for smart housing technologies

The meeting announced the launch of the sixth session of the award Cooperation Council For housing work under the title “Smart Digital Applications and Technologies in Residential Projects and Programs,” with the financial value of the award being raised to 375 thousand Saudi riyals instead of 100 thousand riyals.

The meeting stressed the need for ministries and institutions concerned with housing affairs in member states to promote the new cycle of the award to expand the scope of participation.

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the joint housing action plan for 2024, which included a set of decisions, guides and frameworks related to the housing sector.

Among these decisions, a real estate stimulus guide was approved that links landowners, developers, and financing agencies, in addition to a guide for evaluating cities’ flexibility in the field of housing in the GCC countries.

The economic framework for partnership with private institutions was also adopted with the aim of encouraging investment in the real estate sector.

He stressed the importance of continuing to engage in regional and international events and meetings related to the field of housing to shed light on Gulf housing efforts. The meeting nominated the United Arab Emirates for membership in the Executive Office of the Asia-Pacific Community, and for the presidency of the upcoming General Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, “Habitat.” .

The meeting also pointed out the need to activate the mechanism for exchanging experts and specialists in the field of housing between the GCC countries.

The General Secretariat’s proposal was discussed regarding signing agreements with a number of specialized organizations that contribute to serving the housing sector, including the International Federation of Housing and Planning, the International Housing Association, and the International Federation of Housing Finance.
