Tehran: Iran’s well-known nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was killed on Friday in his own car outside the capital Tehran. Iran has told Israel’s hand behind the incident in the case. Iran’s Defense Ministry said in a statement, scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was “seriously injured” when the attackers targeted his car.

The statement said that Fakhri Zadeh, who headed the research and innovation organization of the ministry, later became a “martyr”. However, the medics tried their best to revive him. Fakhri Zadeh was traveling in a car in eastern Damavand County in Tehran Province.

A state television report on the assassination stated that Israel had an old and deep hostility towards Mohsen Fakhri Zadeh

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif said there are “serious indications of an Israeli role” in the scientific assassination. Zarif wrote on Twitter, “Terrorists killed an eminent Iranian scientist today.” “This cowardice – a serious sign of Israel’s role – shows the desperation of the perpetrators.” He asked the international community to “end their shameful double standards and condemn this act of state terror.”
