A memorandum of understanding was signed to provide employment opportunities for health workers in Kerala in Wales, UK. The MoU was handed over between Welsh Minister of Health and Social Services Eluned Morgan and Norca Roots CEO-in-Charge Ajith Kolassery on behalf of the state government at a ceremony in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Eluned Morgan said that this is the first time such a memorandum of understanding has been exchanged with a state in India. Health workers in Kerala are among the best and the new recruitment will help to strengthen the health sector in post-Covid Wales, Eloned Morgan said. The target is to recruit 250 people in the first phase. The Welsh Minister of Health has announced that employment opportunities will be created for those in other sectors in addition to the health sector.

Minister Veena George said that Kerala is the best state in India in ensuring comprehensive health care and new opportunities are a decision that gives hope to health workers in the state. Then it was decided to find the areas of cooperation in a special discussion led by the Minister of Health. Ajith Kolassery, CEO, Norca Roots explained the recruitment opportunities globally and the potential of Kerala’s human resources in the discussion.

Chief Secretary Dr. V. Venu, Health Department Principal Secretary APM Muhammad Haneesh, NORCA-Industry Department Principal Secretary Suman Billa, NORCA Roots Resident Vice Chairman P. Sri Ramakrishnan were also present. On the second day, the Welsh delegation will visit Government Medical College and Nursing College, Thiruvananthapuram.
