Cairo: Kuwaiti authorities have given the green light for the return of foreign health workers and their families stranded abroad due to travel restrictions, local media said Thursday.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a decision allowing all workers at the Health Ministry and their first-degree kin, holding valid residency permits and entry visas to return to the country on direct or transit flights, Al Rai newspaper reported. They include the worker, the spouse and children.

The decision was issued upon instructions of the Health Ministry, according to DGCA spokesman Saad Al Oteibi.

“Previously, the Health Ministry sent lists of names and numbers of the needed employees. But after coordination with civil aviation, the decision has been taken allowing the immediate return of all workers at the Health Ministry,” the official told Al Rai.
The workers and their families will undergo health quarantine measures on arrival at Kuwait, he added.
The return decision applies to the Health Ministry workers from different countries including the 34 countries covered by a Kuwaiti flight ban, Al Qabas newspaper reported citing an official source.
In August, Kuwait suspended flights with dozens of high-risk countries, citing concerns over the spread of the new coronavirus.
